Wimpole Hall – the walled garden

This eighteenth-century kitchen garden is a beautiful example of how combining vegetables and flowers can be so successful. The garden is a combination of traditional, formal layout and more relaxed planting style. The range of vegetables and fruit grown is amazing. Also, the beautifully planted areas before you enter the main kitchen garden are a delight in themselves. I visited on a hot summer’s day and sitting in amongst the tall grasses and swathes of annual flowers, with the humming of bees all around me was intoxicating! Wimpole Hall is a fantastic local (East Anglian) resource for all gardeners and provides the full ‘farm’ experience for children too.
